Feminine figures emerge from the ground to take strengthening poses. Each figure representing different earthly elements and themes that contribute to the awareness of mind, body and soul. “Faceted Strengths of Her Temporal Divinity” puts on exhibit a physical materialization of the inner healing of body negativity and aims to question western society’s over sexualization and shaming of the female form. This multi-media sculpture series is a celebration of the many relationships between the body and art through exploration of scale, technique and meaning. To create balance in the body and world we inhabit.
Tsabar (Cactus Lady)
Materials: Steel, Plaster, Burlap, Acrylic Paint, Wire, Casted Bronze.
I always felt like society was wasn’t ready for a woman of my size. This common social stigma discouraged and ashamed me of my own body. This piece is a physical affirmation that celebrates this once ashamed growth. Encouraging this figure to take up all the space that she needs.
Emet (Death Lady)
Materials: Casted Bronze, Remelted Polypropylene
These days everything is covered in plastic. Beautiful things, Ugly things. Even our medicine is covered in plastic. This figure is casted in polypropylene pill and medical cannabis containers. Adorning a death mask and taking corpse pose. She presents the ridiculous situation this material has put us in, and I am offering a minor solution by recycling it.
Sandia Peaks (Mountain Ladies)
Materials: Gypsum, Acrylic Paint, Bronze
Sitting in a deep meditation, These sisters greet you with their back side. You must walk around them in order to take in the full diversity and personality of these two. Created to resemble the Sandia Mountains, in Albuquerque, NM, Where the most common view is of the stunning purple, red and pink granite side that faces the city. However, there is also the lush, green side that faces east.
Mayim (Water Lady)
Materials: Bronze, Aluminum
Water brings life to all.
It ebbs and it flows.
It destroys and it creates.
This figure is a physical meditation on balance and patience. As well as, an homage to water.
